I hold this truth to be self-evident: Bob Dylan is our greatest living writer. Period. Full stop. For me, the artist formerly known as Robert Zimmerman will forever be the man who made the English language truly electric in the popular song. So Happy 70th Birthday, Bob. I know you probably won't spend this big day listening to your songs, but we sure will.
Thanks so much for all the precious gifts that you've given us this past half century. We'll be lovingly unwrapping these musical treasures all our lives, as will our kids, and, God willing, their kids too. And just so we're all clear here, as far as I'm concerned, you shall NEVER be released. We need you here too much.
