Chris Soules, who starred on Season 19 of “The Bachelor,” was arrested Monday night following a fatal car crash, the Buchanan County Jail confirmed to the Des Moines Register.
Iowa State Patrol told The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier that Soules’ pickup truck rear-ended a John Deere tractor driven by 66-year-old Kenneth E. Mosher, causing the tractor to roll into a ditch. The incident occurred near Aurora, Iowa.
Soules allegedly fled the scene, and Mosher was taken to the hospital, where he died.
At 1:16 a.m. Tuesday, Soules, 35, was booked on a criminal charge of leaving the scene of an accident at which a death occurred, and has been medically examined.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, police say Soules was in possession of alcoholic beverage containers at the time of the crash. He was identified by witnesses at the scene and later arrested.
The Arlington native first gained attention on Andi Dorfman’s season of “The Bachelorette” in 2014. He then went on to become “The Bachelor” before competing on Season 20 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
HuffPost reached out to ABC, who had no comment on the incident, and a representative for Soules. We will update this post accordingly.
