Fort Collins Woman Hit By 3 Consecutive Vehicles, Death Ruled An Accident

Fort Collins Woman Hit By 3 Vehicles Dies

Investigators are calling the death of a woman who was hit by three vehicles in succession an accident.

Police say a 1999 Ford Expedition was driving south on College Avenue and collided with the pedestrian. Shortly afterwards, a 1991 Honda Civic also hit the woman while traveling southbound.

As witnesses were approaching the woman, yet a third and unidentifiable vehicle ran over the woman and drove on without stopping.

Police believe that the first driver, Monty Dumler, 40, of Greeley may have been under the influence of alcohol, but neither he nor the driver of the Civic, Calah Volz, 22, of Fort Collins, were injured.

According to the Larimer County Coroner's Office, the woman died within seconds of the impact at approximately 11:15 p.m. Investigators are still not releasing her name.

A section of College Avenue between Fossil Creek Parkway and Trilby Road was closed for about six hours while investigators processed the scene.

The third vehicle could only be described by witnesses as being light in color, and police are still looking for the driver of that vehicle. Anyone with any information is being asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-221-6555.
