PHOTOS: Civil War Commemoration At Fort Sumter

Two glowing beams of light were cast into the sky early this morning at South Carolina's Fort Sumter, the site where the first shots of the American Civil War were fired 150 years ago today.

The day marks the beginning of a four-year national commemoration for the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, which claimed over 620,000 American lives from the divided nation.

Check out these photos from the memorial and today's Civil War reenactments at Fort Sumter.
