Fox News Issues Correction For Unemployment Numbers On 'Fox And Friends' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Fox News Issues Correction

"Fox and Friends" issued a correction on Wednesday morning, one day after it was called out for making a misleading claim about the unemployment rate.

On Tuesday, the show aired a graphic which incorrectly suggested that unemployment under President Obama has risen much more than it has. It compared the official unemployment rate in 2009 to the so-called "real" unemployment rate right now. However, the two measures are actually different: the "real" rate is always higher because it includes people who are underemployed or have stopped looking for work, in addition to the official unemployment numbers.

Brian Kilmeade said he wanted to "clarify" that information on Wednesday. "We were comparing the real unemployment rate to when Obama took office -- President Obama took office," he explained. "The real rate includes those working part-time because of economic reasons."

Gretchen Carlson continued, "So the real unemployment rate now 14.7 percent. The percentage when the president took office in 2009, should have read 14.2 percent, not 7.8 percent."

Official unemployment is actually .3 percentage points higher than in 2009, while "real" unemployment is .7 percentage points lower.
