Bill O'Reilly, Megyn Kelly Call For Viewers To Drop Dish Network

Fox News is on a mission, and it's called in top hosts Bill O'Reilly and Megyn Kelly for backup.

Dish Network removed Fox News and Fox Business channels in December as part of contract negotiations, and in response Fox has released a new ad encouraging subscribers to drop Dish.

“Attention, Dish customers: Dish has dropped Fox News, now you can drop Dish," O'Reilly says in the ad, posted to YouTube Jan. 10.

“Thirteen years at number one, now Dish doesn’t want you to have Fox?" says Kelly.

"Enough is enough!" O'Reilly declares later in the spot.

This isn't the first time the satellite TV provider has clashed with a network. Dish just settled its differences with CBS, Cartoon Network, CNN, Boomerang and Turner Classic Movies, according to The Associated Press. And in 2012, Dish dropped AMC Networks for three months due to a legal dispute.

Although Dish has 14 million subscribers, it took a bit of a hit with its Fox News drop. On Dec. 28 it saw only 96,000 viewers in the 25-54 age demographic, and on Jan. 7 brought in 99,000 viewers. "These two days were the first and second times the network has drawn less than 100,000 viewers in the younger demo during the day in 13 years," The Wrap writes of the dive in numbers.

And it certainly doesn't sound like either party will be backing down soon.

"It's like we're about to close on a house and the Realtor is trying to make us buy a new car as well," Warren Schlichting, senior vice president of programming at Dish said, according to AP. "Fox blacked out two of its news channels, using them as leverage to triple rates on sports and entertainment channels that are not in this contract."

Tim Carry, executive vice president of distribution for Fox News, is equally frustrated.

"How can I continue a relationship with someone who feels that they can be treated differently?" Carry said, per the AP. "There's [sic] at the end of the rope of the pricing and marketing model they put in in 1993 and have not changed."
