NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 10: Megyn Kelly, host of America Live on set at Fox News studios in New York. Fox News Channel celebrated its 15th anniversary on the air on October 7th.

One year ago this week, Fox News did the unthinkable: it changed its primetime lineup, a schedule of shows that had been mostly unchanged for the prior 11 years, and in that time led all of cable news in both total viewers and the core adult 25-54 demo.

The changes were dramatic ... but not too dramatic. The only show left untouched was Bill O’Reilly’s “O’Reilly Factor” at 8 p.m., the perennial cable news ratings leader, and the anchor of FNC’s lineup. Greta Van Susteren, who had helmed “On the Record” at 10 p.m. for 11 years, shifted the show to the more newsy hour of 7 p.m., while Sean Hannity moved to her old perch at 10 p.m. At 9 p.m., where Hannity once held court, the sole new addition to primetime settled in: Megyn Kelly, who had risen to fame as an anchor on FNC’s dayside news coverage, and quickly became an essential part of its lineup.
