Fred Scarf, CNN Hero, Plans Proms For Seriously Ill Teens

After cancer claimed his best friend before she could attend their high school prom, Fred Scarf decided to dedicate himself to making a difference for other critically ill teens. He founded the No Worries Now Foundation, an organization that uses donations to plan free proms for teens facing life-threatening diseases.

Scarf's nonprofit allows donors to contribute small, specific amounts, to fund a corsage, dinner or makeup for an individual teen.

CNN honored Scarf as a CNN Hero.
