Bad-boy extraordinaire Kiefer Sutherland suffered another blow to his reputation this weekend when Freddie Prinze Jr., who starred in Season 8 of "24," did not use the kindest words to describe the actor.
"I did '24,' it was terrible. I hated every moment of it," Prinze told ABC News, while promoting the new Disney XD series "Star Wars Rebels" at Comic Con. "Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That's not me talking trash. I'd say it to his face. I think everyone that's worked with him has said that. I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped."
Prinze's "24" stint in 2010 was his last credit until the 2012 TV movie "Happy Valley," save for a single episode of "Psych."
"I went and worked for Vince McMahon at the WWE, for Christ's sake, and it was a crazier job than working with Kiefer," he said.
The Prinze-Sutherland beef didn't end with Comic Con. TMZ reports that sources close to Prinze say Sutherland's temperamental behavior stemmed from alcohol consumption that resulted in Sutherland arriving to set drunk and forcing everyone to wait for hours until he was ready. One source reportedly said Prinze was in the wings to take over the series but became fed up when producers would "keep rewarding" Sutherland despite his antics.
"Kiefer worked with Freddie Prinze Jr. more than five years ago, and this is the first he has heard of Freddie’s grievances," Sutherland's rep told HuffPost Entertainment in a statement. "Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best.”
Prinze, of course, is not the first of Sutherland's "24" co-stars to criticize his professionalism. During a June 2013 appearance on "Fox & Friends," Shohreh Aghdashloo hinted that Sutherland may have had a hand in (spoiler alert) her character being killed off the series due to their on-set clashes.
"I’m afraid working with him proved to be hard. That young man was pretty angry," she said. "At the end of the day, I thought he was angry with himself. The plot changed. I have a feeling that he did [have a role in my departure]."
