With endless choices of salons to go to in NYC, I went to Paul Labrecque for the first time. I was happy I did and learned many tricks/tips while there that I wanted to share.

Firstly, with hair that can knot easily, don't use a normal brush - use a knot genie or special detangling brush. It gets hair detangled in seconds with no pain and no clumps of hair coming out.

Secondly, with thin hair, you should get layers. It gives hair bounce and volume.

Thirdly, you should wash your hair only a couple times a week. Seriously. And, use dry shampoo almost every day to keep oil away and hair looking fresh.

This salon offers it all from nails, to clean shaves for men, to any type of hair cut or color. Staff is fun and friendly, creative and comfortable. Check out their products too - 100% free of fulfills, harsh salts, parabens, or sodium chloride -- what I like to hear. They also offer facials and massages, so you could tuck away here for a while and come out completely freshened up when you leave. A bit of magic in here goes a long way for the busy New Yorker.

I am looking forward to coming back soon. I know you'll enjoy too.
