Good thing Gucci has a kids line.
Frida Giannini, creative director of Gucci, and her partner, Gucci CEO Patrizio di Marco, have announced that they're expecting a child, reports Women's Wear Daily. Congratulazioni!
It's the first child for the pair, who only revealed their couple status in a Financial Times interview last year: Giannini had been head designer for the Italian label since 2006 and di Marco was appointed Gucci's president and CEO in January 2009. Apparently the pair's relationship turned from professional to personal on a June 2009 trip to China and they've been a couple ever since.
Besides becoming the company's super stylish mascot, what will the baby mean for Gucci in the coming year? WWD reports that Frida being pregnant won't impact the label all that much: Giannini will be at both Gucci's men's and women's runway shows in January and February, followed by maternity leave until the end of June. (Celine's Phoebe Philo, by comparison, chose to forgo a normal fashion show while pregnant, opting for a low-key presentation.)
What will definitely change: there will finally be someone besides Jennifer Lopez's two kiddies to wear all those pricey Gucci Children's clothes.
