PHOTOS: A History Of NYC's Forgotten Borough

A new exhibition opening at the Museum of the City of New York is hoping to illuminate the unique history of Staten Island, New York's oft-forgotten borough.

"From Farm to City: Staten Island," will focus on Staten Island's evolution from farmland to suburb, from "pleasure grounds" of the 19th century to the place we know, or don't know, now.

Incorporating maps, photographs, and other primary documents, From Farm To City hopes to bring new awareness to a borough to which many New Yorkers say they've never ventured .

The exhibition opens September 13 and runs till January 21.
