"In a world where the Internet is just a ball of wires...." The trailer for the Funny or Die show premiering on HBO in February opens with this line, promising the hilarious inanity we've come to expect from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. By the end of the video, we were equally parts giddy and angry, the latter due to having to wait three whole weeks to see it.
Not only has FoD gathered an amazing array of talent to perform and write for the series (Rob Huebel, Wayne Newton, Paul Scheer, Zach Galifianakis, Fred Willard, etc) but they are bringing our favorite Web series of all time to TV: Drunk History, in which comedians get boozy and explain how America came to be.
As Gabe at Videogum points out, this isn't the only HBO comedy we're all looking forward to. "The Ricky Gervais Show," a 13-episode animated comedy series, debuts Friday, Feb. 19 -- the same day as "Funny or Die Presents." We are also anticipating the return of "Real Time with Bill Maher," which completes this trio to make HBO the place for comedy on Friday nights.
