FX is officially launching FXX, a new cable channel.
According to FX, the new network will be available in 74 million homes at launch.
Each FX network will target a key demographic. FX will focus on the 18-49 demo, FXX will target the 18-34 demo and FXM (FX Movie Network) will focus on the 25-54 demo. FXM will still be home to movies and expand to limited series.
FXX will be slightly more comedy focused, but not exclusively. It will launch with four comedies in its first year and then jump to six in the second year and younger-skewing dramas will also debut on the new channel. FX will continue to focus on drama series and miniseries.
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "The League" will move from FX to FXX this fall. "It's Always Sunny" has also received a 10th season order and "The League" has been renewed for Season 6. Both will debut in the fall of 2014. Comedy "Legit" will also migrate to FXX and has received a second season order.
"Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell" will expand to five nights a week on FXX, which will also air "How I Met Your Mother," "Parks & Rec," "Sports Night," "Arrested Development," "Freaks & Geeks" and "Rescue Me" in syndication.
