On the tail end of its most successful season yet, five principal actors from βGame of Thronesβ are set to receive a massive pay bump before the series likely concludes in either 2019 or 2020.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) will each earn as much as $500,000 per episode in both Season 7 and 8, the latter of which has yet to be officially announced.
The report also notes that the contracts for other stars, like Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), remain unfinished. Remember, nothing says "Don't mess with me" like bringing the Needle to the negotiating table, Arya.
To put it in perspective, Ellen Pompeo, the star of another long-running TV drama, "Grey's Anatomy," is reportedly earning upward of $300,000 per episode. And she's survived a plane crash, removed a live bomb from a patientβs body, gave birth during a power outage, and almost drowned in the Pacific. But who's counting?
Season 7 will reportedly have a shortened order of only seven episodes, which means that the leads will each rake in a cool $3.5 million over the course of the season. The salary increase is set to make the five "Game of Thrones" leads some of the highest-paid actors in the cable TV game.
