See How 'Game Of Thrones' Made That Amazing Season 5 Dragon Scene

You know, the one where Drogon burnt the rebels to crisps.

"Game of Thrones" is the type of show that loves leaving fans with mouths agape. "The Dance of Dragons," the penultimate episode of Season 5, did exactly that with the epic return of Drogon in Daznak's fighting pits.

In the episode's final moments, Drogon returns to save Daenerys and co. from the Sons of the Harpy rebelling against her. There's lots of dragon fire, hundreds of extras, intricate close-ups of Drogon's face and eyes and Dany escaping on Drogon's back. A new video from Wired reveals how the fantastic sequence was created and how animators designed the dragon from his skeleton and muscular system. Check out the behind-the-scenes video of the sequence, which earned "Thrones" an Emmy nomination for the episode for Outstanding Special Visual Effects.
