Everything You Need To Know Before 'Game Of Thrones' Returns On Sunday

Everything You Need To Know Before 'Game Of Thrones' Returns

Since "Game of Thrones" Season 4 ended last year, The Huffington Post has kept you up to date with all the Season 5 spoilers, predictions, episode titles, trailers, clips and news. With the new season just days away, it's time to start refreshing your memory on all things Westeros.

Here are the most important things to remember before "Game of Thrones" returns on Sunday, but be warned, some Season 5 spoilers follow:

Tyrion killed TywinAfter he's freed from his cell by Jaime, Tyrion made sure to cross some important to-do items off his list: kill his father and strangle his lover, Shae, to death (although the latter was only after discovering Tywin was sleeping with her). Then Tyrion escaped King's Landing by hiding inside a crate on a ship with the help of Varys.

Sansa became Darth SansaSansa debuted her new look at the end of last season, which the Internet soon dubbed Darth Sansa. With darkened hair and more mature, "womanly" attire, it was very clear that the Stark girl has grown up. This new look sets up the darker season Sansa is expected to have this year, which will include a "super traumatic" scene. Turner also recently told Entertainment Weekly that Sansa "goes back to a place where she becomes somewhat of a prisoner again" in Season 5, but has a mission to manipulate someone.

The Hound was left for deadThe finale ended with one of the best fights of the entire series: Brienne and the Hound duking it out. The brawl ended with the Hound falling from a cliff and begging Arya to take his life. She showed him no mercy though. Is Sandor Clegane gone for good, or will we see him again?

Arya heads to BraavosSeason 4 ends with a shot of Arya on a ship headed toward Braavos. What will she encounter there? Based on the new trailers, the official episode titles and the "difficult" scene Maisie Williams has hinted at, Season 5 will show Arya arriving at the House of Black and White where she will train to become an assassin. Also expect Arya to look a lot different next season.

Daenerys kicked out Jorah MormontUpon learning that Jorah was initially a spy for Robert Baratheon, Dany exiles him from Meereen. We don't know where he's headed, but we can expect to see him again in the Daznak fighting pit next season.

Daenerys loses control of MeereenLast season, Dany learned that freeing the slaves didn't exactly please everyone, including the slaves themselves who struggled transitioning to free life. The Season 5 trailer strongly foreshadows the chaos to come in Meereen when the Sons of the Harpy, a group of families who oppose the Mother of Dragons' rule, appear and the golden statue in Yunkai crashes down.

Daenerys locked up her dragonsAfter discovering one of her dragons torched a little girl, Dany decided to lock up Rhaegal and Viserion underground. But Drogon is nowhere to be found. Hmmm, will he show up in Season 5? You bet.

Bran, Hodor & Co. finally met the Three-Eyed RavenBran, Hodor, Jojen and Meera finally arrived at the Weirwood tree and met the Children of the Forest and the Three-Eyed Raven. Even though Hodor saved the day by taking out a bunch of wights, Jojen was killed. We know that neither Hodor (Kristian Nairn) or Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) will appear in Season 5, but it's worth remembering that at the end of the finale, the Raven told Bran he may one day fly.

Joffrey was killedJoffrey finally got what was coming to him during the Purple Wedding last season. Olenna Tyrell worked with Littlefinger to have the young tyrant king poisoned. Relive that unforgettable moment here.

Tommen is kingFollowing Joffrey's death, his little brother Tommen was officially crowned king. Expect another wedding ceremony next season between Margaery Tyrell and Tommen.

Cersei is still supposed to marry Loras TyrellCersei told her father Tywin at the end of last season, "I will burn the house to the ground before I let that happen," so it's pretty clear she doesn't want to marry Margaery's brother (and Jaime doesn't want her to either). In this same conversation, Cersei also admitted her love affair with Jaime to her father's face.

Stannis infiltrates the Free FolkAfter the Wildlings and the Night's Watch battle it out in the penultimate episode of Season 4, Jon Snow surrenders to Mance Rayder with intentions of killing him. But before anything can happen, Stannis' army arrives to infiltrate the forest and thus take over Mance's people. Things don't look too good for Mance though, since a Season 5 scene released by HBO shows the King Beyond the Wall held prisoner by Stannis with Jon persuading him to make some kind of alliance.

Jon Snow lost his loveR.I.P. Ygritte. You'll always have the cave.

The Mountain killed the ViperIt's impossible to forget this gruesome death scene when The Mountain pushes in Oberyn Martell's eyeballs until his head explodes during the trial by combat. But let's not forget that we'll finally travel to Dorne in Season 5 and Oberyn's daughters, known as the Sand Snakes, won't be too happy after his death.

The Mountain is in critical conditionSince Oberyn laced his spears with a deadly poison during their fight, The Mountain was severely injured and left unconscious afterwards. Cersei enlisted Qyburn, an expelled former maester of the Citadel, to perform an experiment on The Mountain to save him. Qyburn tells her though that the process will change the fighter.

Ramsay becomes legitimizedIn Season 4, Ramsay has Reek (née Theon Greyjoy) pretend to be Theon (it's confusing) in order to trick the ironborn to surrender. After they do, Ramsay does what he does best: violently murders them. After taking Moat Cailin, Ramsay Snow finally becomes legitimized as a Bolton by his father Roose.

The White Walkers kidnapped a babyIn the middle of Season 4, the White Walkers snatched up Craster's last born son. (Craster is the guy who impregnated all of his daughters.) They placed the baby on an altar of ice as a creepy horned Walker appeared, who some believe to be the Night's King.

What to expect from Season 5:

There will be two very epic fight scenesWe know that Jon Snow will be in the midst of a major battle scene when Season 5 takes us to Hardhome, which some speculate could mark the return of the Night's King. But Season 5 will also have lots of dragons and a epic fight in Daznak's Pit, as the "GoT" behind-the-scenes special previewed.

Unexpected characters will die George R.R. Martin told fans in February that along with winter, a lot of death is coming this season. The author said characters who don't die in the books will die on the show. You've been warned.

There will be lots of new charactersFrom the introduction of the Sand Snakes and Oberyn's brother Doran Martell to the High Septon and a re-cast Myrcella Baratheon, there will be a lot of new faces next season, not to mention the different faces we'll meet at the House of Black and White.

Cersei will have a major nude sceneCersei's Walk of Shame scene from the books will happen this season and it has already caused controversy. The details of the scene first leaked when it was reported that a church in Croatia was attempting to stop the crew from shooting it, but HBO eventually reportedly paid a ton of money in fines to make it happen.

Jaime heads to DorneWhile this doesn't happen in the books, Jaime will appear in Dorne next season.

"GoT" will have its first flashbackShowrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are breaking one of their oldest rules with Season 5 and introducing the first flashback to the series. Nell Williams was cast in the role of Young Cersei, so it seems likely the flashback will feature her.

"Game of Thrones" returns on Sunday, April 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO.
