Game On! Denver's Best Bars For Watching Football

Football season is here, and while there is no shortage of Denver televisions turned to the Broncos on game day, here are a few bars you’ll likely prefer to your living room and whatever’s in the fridge.

Sports Column: This sports bar has garnered both local and national recognition – in terms of both game-watching and ambiance. Monday Night Bloopers boasts specials every five minutes, and weekends bring deals on Coors and Coors Light as well as Colorado brews. Oh, and Iowa Hawkeyes, you’ll find your people here. 1930 Blake St.; 303-296-1930

Whiskey Bar: Though you can certainly enjoy a beer here, rounds of whiskey kick the game into high gear at Whiskey Bar. You’ll find $2 Absoluts and Jim Beams on Mondays and $2 Beams or Morrisons (Bud Light draft and shot of Beam) on Sundays. Rams are loved here (as it’s is an official CSU watching bar), and misplaced Mizzou fans can catch watch parties here as well. 2203 Larimer St.; 303-297-0303

City Pub: This Southeast Denver neighborhood bar offer 14 televisions and an award-winning burger along with import specials on Mondays and Bloody Marys on Sundays. The crowds aren’t as intense as the downtown scene, and if you come more than once you’re sure to see familiar local faces. Parking is free. Have a game that’s not on the mainstream radar? Just request a channel change. 3575 S. Yosemite; 303-694-0454

Jackson’s: Set yourself in front of any one of their 40 high-def flat screens and take advantage of the $5 Bud or Bud Light pitcher during NFL games or, for college football, $7 Coors Light pitcher specials. Stick around after the game, as Jackson’s often turns into a late night hotspot with a rooftop patio and dance floors. 1520 20th St.; 303-298-7625

Choppers: Over 50 high-def televisions decorate this spacious Cherry Creek sports bar, where you’ll find draft and shot specials on game days, as well as mimosa and Bloody Mary specials on weekends. Despite a large, open layout and over a hundred local microbrews, Choppers maintains a neighborhood feel. Warning: You’ll hear plenty of “Rock Chalk Jayhawk” chants around here. 80 S. Madison St. Cherry Creek; 303-399-4448

Blake Street Tavern: While Broncos score high, Buffs fans will be just as comfy watching CU games with like-minded folks at this tavern. Blake Street is also home for Flying Dog craft ales, and during commercials you can lose yourself into a game of Golden Tee or plethora of other bar games. Bonus: Each table is equipped with Soundog wireless speakers. 2301 Blake St.; 303-675-0505
