Gary Marshall Updates Penny's Health, Says Working With Her On 'Laverne And Shirley' Wasn't Easy (VIDEO)

Gary Marshall On Laverne And Shirley, Penny's Health

"Laverne & Shirley" is basking in a new round of honor and nostalgic praise. The show will be honored with a fan favorite award at the upcoming TV Land Awards, and "Good Morning America" hosted a cast reunion Thursday morning.

The show's legendary creator Gary Marshall stopped by "Live! With Kelly" (weekdays on ABC) where he updated viewers on his sister Penny Marshall's health status and told a few funny stories about working with her.

"They think she's sick, she was sick 3 years ago. She's healthy and terrific ... they have old pictures" he said. Marshall was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer in 2009.

Marshall went on to explain the unique challenges of working on a TV show with his sister. "Usually you do a show, you say 'Okay, we're done, goodbye, see you tomorrow, bye.' And I'd say that to Penny, but she'd follow me home. She'd come in the house and eat dinner and say, 'Let's work on the second act here.' And my wife would say, 'Is Penny going to eat or is she just going to write on the table jokes?'"

TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser.
