Last week, LGBT app Distinc.tt hosted a food panel with some of the leading LGBT figures and celebrities in culinary culture. The panel sought not only to celebrate the launch of Disctinc.tt, but to spark conversation about the way that food culture intersects with the LGBT community.
"Where women have really pushed forward in the kitchen, I feel that gays have not," Top Chef Just Desserts Alum Zac Young stated in the above video of the panel. "I don't barge in signing show tunes, dancing around and being like, 'Oh, here's your soufflé!' But it's creator first and that's what we've all set out to prove."
In conjunction with this panel, Dictinc.tt has launched a "Gayest Desserts" contest that is open to the public and will be judged by a panel of celebrity chefs, TV personalities and culinary tastemakers.
The submission entry deadline for the contest is Feb. 16, 2014 with the winner having their dish featured on THE OUT HOTEL’s KTCHN spring menu and also featured on the Distinc.tt website. Head here for full rules and information and check out a slideshow of gay desserts below.
