When news broke that New York would be the sixth state to legalize gay marriage, New Yorkers flooded the streets in jubilation.

More than 40 years after the infamous Stonewall Riots, the landmark Stonewall Inn -- widely considered the birthplace of the modern U.S. LGBT rights movement -- hosted perhaps the most notable celebration in New York City, as couples embraced, kissed and rejoiced over the passage of the bill.
