HuffPost Gay Voices Receives Big Honor From LGBT Family Organization

On May 18, RaiseAChild.US held its second annual HONORS gala at the W Hollywood Hotel and paid tribute to individuals and families for their advocacy on behalf of fostering, adoption, and inclusive families.

Among the honorees at the event, the theme of which was "Sharing the Stories of Our Families," were Tony Award-winning actor Denis O’Hare and his husband Hugo Redwood, The Montgomery Family, whose blog on The Huffington Post about accepting their gay son went viral, and HuffPost Gay Voices Executive Editor Noah Michelson, among others.

Other guests of honor included actors John McCook, Alec Mapa, Joely Fisher, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Ed Begley, Jr. and Dr. Caitlin Ryan. Singer and Grammy-nominated songwriter Bonnie McKee, perhaps best known for co-writing hit songs like Katy Perry's "Teenage Deram" and "Roar," performed two song for the honorees and over 300 attendees.

Michelson and HuffPost Gay Voices were honored for their work helping to bring visibility to LGBT families. Each Friday, Gay Voices shares a new story of a family or individual that has been touched by RaiseAChild.US in the "Let Love Define Family" series.

RaiseAChild.US campaigns welcome and support prospective LGBT parents while putting images of LGBT families into public spaces through PSAs, print media, and outdoor advertising.
