Geese Poisoned In Chicago Parks, Authorities Believe

Authorities Believe Up To 20 Geese Have Been Poisoned In Chicago Parks

At least 20 geese have been found dead in two parks on the city's Southwest Side, and authorities believe they may have been poisoned.

According to ABC, eighteen of the geese were found in McKinley Park, in the neighborhood of the same name. At least two more were found in McGuane Park, in nearby Bridgeport.

Chicago Park District spokeswoman Jessica Maxey Faulkner told NBC Chicago that poisoning is suspected in the animals' deaths. The Department of Animal Care and Control is performing necropsies on the dead animals, and results are still pending.

A passerby found the first of the animals on Tuesday morning, and officers on patrol found the next wave of corpses early Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Chicago police have been notified, as have Illinois Conservation Police. They'll be on the lookout for other possible poisionings.
