If Genders Were Reversed In Our Most Memorable Movie Scenes

Remember the sultry scene in "Basic Instinct" when Sharon Stone crossed and then uncrossed her legs? How about that sensual moment in "Titanic" when Leonardo DiCaprio drew Kate Winslet in the nude? The gender roles in these memorable cinematic moments are so pronounced, it's difficult to imagine them any other way.

BuzzFeedPop created a video that highlights these and other iconic scenes, and shows them side-by-side with reenactments in which the female roles are played by men, and the male roles are played by women.

While a few moments provide for some levity, the reversed depictions of sexuality and dominance are jarring to eyes conditioned to see women as objects more easily than men. "Is seeing men and women like this uncomfortable?" BuzzFeedPop asks in a thought-provoking conclusion, leaving us with an important question: "Why?"
