Former president George H. W. Bush had some harsh words for Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) in a Parade interview. Via Political Wire, Bush on the lawmaker's "You lie!":
He was deeply offended by Rep. Joe Wilson's (R., S.C.) outcry during President Barack Obama's September speech to Congress. "There has to be a certain decorum and civility. And that was just smashed. I thought, 'How low have we gotten here?'"
Republican leaders said at the time that Wilson should apologize, but they balked at any punishment for his actions.
