This legendary publishing art director and designer is a "New Yawka" through and through: tough as rawhide, a vocabulary heavy (very heavy) on four-letter imprecations, opinions pouring forth like someone uncapped a fire hydrant on Mott Street. An original Manhattan adman, Lois created many of the most memorable advertisements and publication designs of the last 50 years: Esquire magazine's glory days in the 1960s, Volkswagen, ESPN, Ed Koch's mayoral campaigns and many, many more. The man even came up with the slogan "I Want My MTV," for God's sake. Little wonder that brands and companies seeking to make an impact have, for decades, wanted him.
