New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner died this morning, Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the age of 80. Steinbrenner suffered from a heart attack and passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Fla.

"He was a visionary and a giant in the world of sports," his family said in a statement. "He took a great but struggling franchise and turned it into a champion again."

Steinbrenner was known for saying, "Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing."
