Zimmerman's Wife Files For Divorce

Shellie Zimmerman, George Zimmerman's wife, has filed for divorce from the 29-year-old who was recently found not guilty for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

ABC News correspondent Matt Gutman originally reported the development:

MyFoxOrlando confirmed the news with Zimmerman's brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr.

The couple's marriage became a hot topic after Shellie Zimmerman expressed uncertainty during a "Good Morning America" interview.

When asked if she and George Zimmerman were still together, Shellie Zimmerman said, "I'm not going to answer that."

She added that she "wants to have children and stay married."

"With George?" the interviewer asked.

"That's something I'm going to have to think about," Shellie Zimmerman replied.

The filing comes less than two months after George Zimmerman was found not guilty of second degree murder after shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February 2012
