Thinking about Valentine's Day plans for your favorite Downton Abbey fan? Ready your pearls and fascinators and tailcoats, because England's Highclere Castle, the filming location for the hit show, is about to open its doors to overnight guests, just in time for the holiday (and for Season 5...for America, at least)!
The London Lodge at Highclere Castle is located on the estate, and has just gotten a nice modern makeover. So even though you'll be staying in a historical building, you won't have to be without Wi-Fi or TV (I mean, how else will you watch Downton Abbey while you're at Downton Abbey?) There are two lodges on the property, both with kitchens, sitting rooms (the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea), and old-school wood burners, just like the ones that probably would have warmed Lady Mary.
Can't wait until Februrary 13th to visit? You can still tour the estate, which serves as the filming location for the majority of the interior and exterior shots of the show. The rooms are pretty much always decorated as they are in the show, too, so it's pretty easy to imagine yourself stopping by to visit the Crawleys for tea...just don't rustle the Dowager Countess's feathers. And probably avoid that scheming scumbag Thomas, too.
