Every classic science fiction show has an epic soundtrack. This fall, American fans of the television series will be able to hear it live at the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular, held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on October 7, 2015.

The event features a full orchestra recreating the music of the television series, all while an army of evil Daleks and Cybermen are live on stage. Under the direction of conductor Ben Foster, they will be performing music written by Murray Gold, who has scored the television series since its 2005 re-launch.

The show is hosted by Michelle Gomez, who plays Missy, the current version of Doctor Who's enemy the Master. Gomez first debuted in the series in 2014 and returns to the role in the new season.

"The Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular" was previously performed in Australia and New Zealand. The event is part of New York Super Week, a series of pop culture events that lead up to the New York Comic-Con. Tickets for the event go on sale May 8.

As for the Doctor Who theme song, it is one of the well known opening tunes in television history. It was created by Delia Derbyshire and Ron Grainier in 1963 at BBC's Radiophonic Workshop. It's been performed and reinterpreted by several different musicians, most notably by electronic act Orbital who regularly incorporates it into their live act.
