It’s that time again—the shelves at the pharmacy and corner-store are bare, with only a few lonely and out-of-date treats available. As you grab a “Woody from Toy Story” box filled with two chocolates you drop it back to the shelf in disgust and head for the exit. Good choice! There are so many fresh and healthy options for you and your loved ones this holiday. Keep in mind, chocolate made with quality ingredients and in moderation is healthy, but this year, why not think past the classic chocolate and flowers duo to a whole new world of freshness.

Below are three fresh foods options you can add to have a healthy and decadent holiday:

In the weeds. Why not skip flowers this year and do shopping for your loved one in the only place you need for Valentine’s Day gifts—The Home Depot. Make your way past the piles of lumber and pop into the garden department to snag a bouquet of herbs. These little guys are super nutritious and can add bloom to any meal. Moreover, studies show that eating herbs with a meal can reduce blood glucose levels, which may help heat up the night! A few basil plants, Italian parsley and rosemary not only add a fragrant touch but will make a great garnish for many of your upcoming date night meals.

Savor the Seed. Instead of chocolate why not try a sexy fruit basket instead? Fruit is sweet, light, nourishing and a great addition to any Valentine’s Day. I suggest you try something exotic like dragon fruit, passion fruit or lychee. Look for ripe fruit that is soft to the touch. You might not be able to sprinkle kiwi all over your bed and roll around in it but these little guys will keep you sexy because they contain fiber—which may increase levels of testosterone or oestrone hormones in the body.

DIY V-day. One tasty option to freshen up your stale holiday might be the gift of a food delivery service. These prepped meals come strait to your door with all the fresh ingredients measured, recipes with bright bold photos and step-by-step directions. Most of the meals come with one interesting ingredient for your Valentine’s Day menu and give you, if nothing else, some quality time pretending to chef it up in your kitchen with your sweet thing.

Any way you chose to spend this day of love, whether its binging on Bridget Jones’s Diary or crammed into an outrageously busy and over priced restaurant, remember that keeping it fresh is really about the ability to be open and sometimes think outside of the box.

Be Fearless, Be Full.
