Gidget Goes To Washington

As a woman, I find McCain's cavalier and blase vetting of Ms. Palin insulting. One look at the dame was good enough for him, so we should be excited about having a broad to vote for. McCain just doesn't get it.

GIDGET AND KAHUNA

It's one thing to cast Britney Spears on a tired sit-com, on a network whose devoted viewers are Depends consumers, but this McCain stunt casting is ridiculous! Didn't McCain say country first? Does anyone really believe that John McCain is putting his country first when he employs the John Edwards approach for hiring women. Just months ago the NY Times published a story about McCain getting a little too cozy with a female lobbyist, Vicky Iseman, and now McCain has given the post of VP to an ex-beauty queen he met once. Mmmmm...

Ms. Palin may be a renaissance woman; hunter, mother, wife, mayor and moose pie connoisseur, but is she really qualified to be one skipped heartbeat away from picking up the red phone? At first blush, hell to the NO! Her appointment is a sad attempt by McCain to attract women voters. Those angry bitter baby-boomer women who are upset about democracy not working in Hillary Clinton's favor. There may be some women, like Geraldine Ferraro, who may cast a protest vote, but in reality they had no intention of voting for Obama, for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with Hillary Clinton.

Selecting a running mate is the first opportunity for the electorate to judge the decision making acumen of the candidates and frankly Mr. McCain has demonstrated that he is dangerously reckless rash and hasty. Mr. McCain met Ms. Palin only once before deciding she was the right person to entrust millions of lives to, in the event his 72 year old heart gives out, which after having had cancer four times, is a great possibility. This man clearly has placed his intense political ambition and libido above the greater good of his country.

As a woman, I find his cavalier and blase vetting of Ms. Palin insulting. One look at the dame was good enough for him, so we should be excited about having a broad to vote for. McCain just doesn't get it. Poor man, perhaps his garters and high top shoes are too tight, but he just doesn't seem to grasp that women are not going to vote for someone because she's a woman no more than Blacks are going to vote for him if he placed Alan Keyes on his ticket. STOP INSULTING OUR INTELLIGENCE Mr. P.O.W.

Another thing, Jimmy Carter is right, McCain has milked that POW line more than a Jersey Cow. ENOUGH ALREADY! He wasn't the only POW, there were thousands, the only difference is that those men didn't have a well connected father and a rich wife. The majority of POWS are poor old men living on the street, in SRO's, from disability check to disability check, or never returned to a hero's welcome.

One last little tid-bit that strikes me ironic in light of the Palin selection. In the coming days don't be surprised to hear about another woman in McCain's life, courtesy of Larry Flynt. McCain's other folly is stashed in posh D.C. diggs. The story of the Phoenix senator and stripper will soon hit the pages of Hustler magazine. READ MORE AT POLITICS NOT AS USUAL.

John McCain you old dog you!
