Gilbert Arenas Arrested: Former NBA Player Caught With 100 Pounds Of Illegal Fireworks (VIDEO)

Gilbert Arenas Arrested For Illegal Fireworks

Looks like this former NBA player might not get the explosive Fourth of July he anticipated.

According to TMZ, Gilbert Arenas was arrested early Thursday morning around 2:30 a.m. after he was caught speeding in Los Angeles. California Highway Patrol pulled the former Memphis Grizzlies point guard over and discovered Arenas's pickup truck was filled to the brim with "dangerous" fireworks, which are illegal for those without a special license in California.

Apparently the boxes of fireworks, which weighed at least 100 pounds in total, were plainly visible in the truck bed of the Ford pickup. Arenas was booked for misdemeanor possession of illegal fireworks and released on bail.

This is not the first time Arenas has run into trouble with the law. In 2010, he famously brandished a gun in the Washington Wizards locker room during a heated argument with teammate Javaris Crittenton, who also drew a firearm. After the incident, he was suspended from the team and pleaded guilty to a felony gun charge. He was later sentenced to 30 days in a halfway house.

Arenas currently plays guard for the Shanghai Sharks. The three-time NBA all-star signed with the Chinese Basketball Association in late 2012 after leaving the Grizzlies. Arenas had moved to the Memphis team last year after the Orando Magic released him from his contract in December 2011.
