Ginnifer Goodwin Talks Hygiene, Beauty Routines And Her Onscreen Characters For HuffPost's #nofilter

Ginnifer Goodwin Gets Candid About Hygiene, Beauty Routines

These days, our knowledge of celebrities too often originates with paparazzi images and snarky quotes by anonymous "insiders." After a while, it's easy to forget that stars are real people. That's why HuffPost Celebrity decided to launch its all-new #nofilter quick-fire question and answer series. Because how well do you know someone until they've shared their guiltiest pleasures?

Best known for her roles as Margene Heffman on "Big Love" and as Snow White on ABC's "Once Upon a Time," Ginnifer Goodwin has captured America's heart with her sweet, sunny disposition -- well, that and her adorable pixie haircut. The Memphis-born actress, who has been all smiles since the start of her now-public fairytale romance with co-star Josh Dallas, has recently partnered with LISTERINE® and Oral Health America in hopes of improving access to dental care for children in need. We figured it was about time to get to the bottom of what it is about Goodwin that's just so darn captivating.

How many times a day do you brush/floss? And be honest!
Well, before this, I've always been a twice-a-day brusher. I try to floss every day -- that's not true -- I don't try to floss. If you tried to floss every day then you would. I do floss several times a week, but I know that we're supposed to do it every day. Now that I've been educated about oral health, my habits are changing. Today I started swishing with LISTERINE® twice a day. It only takes 30 seconds twice a day, and it will virtually clean 100 percent of your mouth.

What’s one beauty/hygiene routine you’re absolutely obsessive about?
Oh my gosh, I feel like I'm really obsessive about anything dealing with my health. I'm very careful not to over-wash my face. I don’t pick at anything -- as my grandma taught me not to.

What's one beauty product you absolutely swear by?
Extra-virgin organic coconut oil! It's a miracle product. You can eat it, put it on your cuticles, shave your legs with it ... it's pretty stunning. I wash my face with it, put it on my lips and I also use it as moisturizer.

On days when you're on set for hours, what essentials do you carry with you in your purse?
I always have a book, and I always have lots of snacks. There are snacks provided for us at work, but I always bring mine from home. Oh, and also my iPhone!

What on-screen character most resembles your real life personality?
Oh my gosh, that’s good! It sounds so, like, sort of horrible and narcissistic, but I would say there are some aspects of Snow White that are closer to home than other characters I've played. There's some things about Gigi in "He's Just Not That Into You" that I related to a lot.

What TV shows are always on your DVR?
"Downton Abbey," "South Park," and "American Horror Story."

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever read about yourself?
They are all dumb! I kind of love the dumb rumors though, because it’s a great distraction from whatever is really going on. People think I've dated people I never dated. And I'm not going to say who they are, because I love that people think I've dated these people! Actually, people are really positive I've dated certain people.

If you could give advice to a younger version of yourself, what would it be?
Oh my gosh, I'd give so much advice to a younger version of myself. I would say it really does get better as you get older. The things that mean so much, the things that seem like, you know, it's going to cause the end of the world, are all things that I've already forgotten.

Do you ever text when you’re in the movie theater?
NEVER! I can't deal. It's like, if you can't focus on a movie for 90 minutes without looking at your phone, then don’t go to the movies! You’ve got some issues, so you should probably stay home and work on those issues, and not distract everyone with lights, and sounds, oh my gosh, the tapping on the screens, it makes me crazy! And I'm always glaring at people that are doing it.

Do you ever cheat at board games?
Never. I'm fair, I'm very fair. When I win I want to feel like I've won fairly.

If you could do it all over again, would you do anything differently?
No, I cherish all of the times I've fallen on my face and made mistakes, because those experiences have made me who I am.
