6-Year-Old Girl Dies On Colorado Amusement Park's Haunted Mine Drop Ride

An investigation into the death at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park continues.

A 6-year-old girl died at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, on Sunday night following what park officials described as “an incident” on its Haunted Mine Drop ride.

The exact details surrounding the fatality on the ride, which plunges passengers 110 feet down into a pitch-black tunnel, remain unclear.

The girl was on vacation with her family from Colorado Springs, per NBC. Her name has not been released.

On Twitter, Glenwood Caverns said an investigation into the death was “in progress.”

“Out of respect for all involved, we have no further comment until details have been confirmed,” the park wrote. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved.”

The park is closed Monday and Tuesday, according to an announcement on its website.
