A 3-year-old girl in South Houston is recovering from a gunshot wound after police say a drunk driver opened fire on her family's car.
The girl, identified only as Leah, was riding in a car seat in the back of her family's SUV at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, KTRK reports. Leah's father noticed a vehicle weaving back and forth up ahead of them, and decided to try and pass the car to avoid an accident.
While they were passing the erratic car, police say someone inside it shot multiple rounds into the air, then into the SUV.
"The suspect's vehicle pulled up right next to them, started firing shots into the rear window of the vehicle," South Houston Police Chief Herbert Gilbert told Click 2 Houston.
Leah's right leg was grazed by one of the bullets. She was taken to a hospital, and is now in stable condition.
Police say the shooter's vehicle was a white car with rims.
