What started as a comedy writer’s parody Twitter account is now making a major impact by proving it’s pretty darn easy to #GiveMoreThanTrump.
On Tuesday, #TrumpLeaks author Owen Ellickson sent out a series of tweets announcing he was starting a GoFundMe to donate money to all of the people Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has maligned during his campaign.
He called it “Give More Than Trump,” with the goal of raising more than Trump gave to charity from 2009 to early 2016. In June, The Washington Post revealed that Trump had donated only $10,000 during those seven years.
That information “leads to two thoughts,” Ellickson wrote on his GoFundMe: “1) Really, dude? That’s it? Gross,” and “2) We can beat that.”
“I believe we, as Americans, and people, are better than Donald Trump,” Ellickson tweeted. “And I can think we can prove it.”
According to the GoFundMe page, all of the proceeds will go to the American Refugee Committee to help precisely the people Trump has attacked over the past year.
“A donation will help people in need, including members of all the groups Trump has bashed (refugees, women, people of color, Muslims... boy, he’s been busy),” Ellickson wrote on GoFundMe. “It will add one more pebble on the avalanche of humiliation that awaits him in November.”

Ellickson did not immediately respond to The Huffington Post’s request for comment.
Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
