Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald's literary classic, takes place in the summer of 1922 -- in an era of debauchery and decadence. Although Luhrmann chose to film in his hometown of Sydney, Australia, the locations depicted are New York City and Long Island's North Shore. In honor of the influential film, hotel search www.trivago.com has selected eight hotels fit for a modern-day Gatsby.

Many of these hotels, in luxury destinations like Long Island, the Hudson Valley, Cape Cod, and New York City, are housed within historic mansions that operated in the Roaring Twenties, all of which offer striking exteriors, elegant interiors, and superb wine and dining. Look no further than the New York City Plaza Hotel (frequented by Fitzgerald himself and featured in The Great Gatsby) or the exquisitely landscaped gardens of Cape Cod's coastal retreats -- all of which evoke images of Gatsby's seductive revelries.
