GLSEN 'Day Of Silence' Claims By Mission America's Linda Harvey Debunked In New Video

The Gay, Lesbian And Straight Education Network (GLSEN) has hit back at conservative criticism of their annual "Day of Silence," which was established in support of bullied lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth.

In the video above, GLSEN officials provide some sobering facts about treatment of LGBT youth in schools nationwide. Among the more eyebrow-raising: 80 percent of transgender students say they don't feel safe at school, while four out of five LGBT students say they were bullied, harassed or assaulted last year.

The facts are juxtaposed with recorded remarks from Mission America's Linda Harvey, who slams the National Day of Silence -- which is set for April 19 -- as "pure political propaganda" that "encourages sympathy for homosexuality, which is wrong."

As Right Wing Watch reported, Harvey slammed the National Day of Silence earlier this month. "For those of us who truly have a Christian worldview, we do not accept the terms, definitions and claims of the advocates of homosexuality, like the claim that standing up against homosexuality and calling it a sin is hateful and is similar to bully," she said at the time. "No, it’s not."
