It’s almost time for little ghouls and goblins to gear up for Halloween, and one of the most exciting parts of this spook-tastic holiday is choosing a costume. This year, the hottest Halloween costumes will be based on kids’ favorite characters from movies, TV shows, and toys.
In fact, more kids than ever before will be celebrating Halloween dressed as their favorite superheroes, according to The National Retail Federation. The top 10 list also includes Batman, Star Wars, and Frozen characters.
Although Halloween only lasts for a day, you can make these purchases last a whole lot longer—costumes are great for dress-up and pretend play all year long. Embracing this concept, costume manufacturer Rubie’s Costume Co. also introduced a new line of role-play items called Imagine by Rubie’s, which features easy-wear costumes kids can don anytime, anywhere.
With so much to choose from, it won’t be hard to catch the Halloween spirit with these costumes:
The force is still strong! The Star Wars franchise expands this year as fans are anticipating the new film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming out this December. While we will see many Reys and Finns from last year’s The Force Awakens, there’s a whole new cast of characters for kids to choose from, including Jyn Erso, K-2SO droid, and a Death Trooper. The Deluxe Jyn Erso costume comes with a top with an attached vest, belt, and pants; the Deluxe K-2SO includes a mask, foam padded jumpsuit, attached shoe covers, and hand covers; and the Deluxe Death Trooper Costume also features a foam padded jumpsuit, shoe cover, belt, and mask.
Kids will be on their way into the night to save the day! Kids can choose to be one of their favorite pajama-wearing superheroes, including Catboy, Gekko, or Owlette. Each costume features a jumpsuit with attached shoe covers, a tail (for Gekko and Catboy), a pair of gloves, and a headpiece. Plus, these super suits feature glow-in-the-dark parts, including the animal amulets on the chest.
The baddies of Skylands will be no match for these heroes! Kids can dress up as their favorite Skylanders video game characters with this line from Rubie’s. The entire collection features Kaos, including a robe and mask; Spyro, including a jumpsuit, attached chest piece and wings, a mask, and hand and shoe covers; Crusher and Jetvac, including a jumpsuit, body armor, shoe covers, shin guards, gauntlet, and mask; and Snapshot, Wallop, and Chop Chop, which each come with a jumpsuit, mask, and inflatable weapon.
Disney Princess Prestige Costumes (Disguise)
Make way for royalty! Little kids will feel just like princesses with these gorgeous dresses. Part of Disguise’s Prestige collection, each costume includes zipper closures, more detailing, and luxurious fabrics. The line features Cinderella, Jasmine, Belle, Merida, Aurora, Snow White, Rapunzel, and Ariel. To make the transformation complete, additional accessories such as wands and wigs are sold separately.
Holy cuteness, Batman! These role-play and dress-up items are perfect to make kids feel comfortable while they're out trick-or-treating all day. The Deluxe Armored Batman Costume Top Set features a muscle chest shirt, cape, and mask; the Deluxe Superman Muscle Chest Shirt Set includes a muscle chest shirt and cape; and the Wonder Woman Costume Top Set comes with a shirt with an attached cape and fabric tiara. Other accessories, such as reversible weapons and accessories are also available for purchase.
Ever wonder what it’s like to look and feel just like a Lego minifigure? Now, kids can dress up like them, including every thoughtful detail from blocky legs to the claw hands. The offerings in the Nexo Knights line includes Clay, Lance, and Aaron, and the Ninjago line features Lloyd, Kai, Jay, and Nya. The Prestige costumes include a minifigure tunic, pants, a mask, and a pair of hands.
