'God Loves Gays' Billboard Erected In Topeka, Kansas

LOOK: 'God' Just Gave Westboro One Giant Surprise

The Westboro Baptist Church just received another reminder that not everyone in Topeka, Kansas, shares their hatred for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Last month, it was announced that a new Indiegogo campaign had been launched in hopes of funding a giant billboard declaring "God Loves Gays." The billboard was to be erected by a popular Facebook entity know as 'God' in the town that the Westboro Baptist Church calls home. After raising over $80,000 (far surpassing the $50,000 goal), the billboard has officially gone up.

According to the Indiegogo campaign, the additional funding will be used for stretch goals, such as bus ads in Topeka and donations for the National Alliance to End Homelessness. Additionally, if the campaign reaches $100,000, "God" will erect an additional billboard in Utah.

In an email to The Huffington Post, "God" said: "The time has come for good people to fight back. With love! It's time to send a message to these bigots. You want to come to other people's funerals to promote hate? We'll come to where you live to promote love!"

As Mashable noted, Westboro responded with the following statement:

Thank God for that lying billboard! Every soul that sees it will either rejoice for the lie and the vain hope of afflicting the servants of God at WBC... Or, they will sigh and mourn for that awful sin and all the parts of it, knowing that every single soul that weighed in with money or words, in favor of that lying billboard, will stand before God in the Judgment, so very ashamed. Knowing also, that when they stand before God in the judgment, it will be TOO LATE for repentance, and eternal torment will follow.
