You'll Laugh At This 'Golden Girls' Spoof For All The Wrong Reasons

Donald Trump and friends get re-cast as Miami's fab foursome and it's altogether frightening.

Since it went off the air in 1992, “The Golden Girls” has inspired countless tributes, from coloring books to ice cream sundaes to a planned New York City eatery.

However, this spoof of the sitcom’s famous theme song, “Thank You for Being a Friend,” couldn’t be more perfectly timed. Created by Comedy Central’s late night improv show @midnight, the clip casts Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Kong Un in the place of the four Golden Girls.

The men’s faces are superimposed onto the bodies of Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia in the clip, which has been viewed over 2.5 million times since it was posted on @midnight’s official Facebook page on Wednesday. Still, seeing Putin and Trump share a warm embrace and face off in a tap routine doesn’t have quite the same heartwarming effect as it did when Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan were doing it.

Now that Trump is reportedly enjoying a post-Republican National Convention poll spike, a little levity goes a long way. Here’s to hoping we won’t see these scenes play out in the White House next year.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.
