Golden Globes Hair & Makeup Was All About The Drama (PHOTOS)

What Was Going On With These Golden Globes Hairdos?

There wasn't a dull beauty moment on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. From the bold lipstick shades worn by Lupita Nyong'o and Jennifer Lawrence to the radiant glows of pregnant actresses Olivia Wilde and Kerry Washington, there was much to tweet about.

But, of course, there were was some really bad hairstyles (we're looking at you, Sarah Hyland and Amber Heard) that made communicating how we really felt in 140 characters or less practically impossible.

And while we love full-on glamour, it was quite refreshing to see stars like Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon take a more casual approach to their hair and makeup.

Check out our best and worst beauty picks at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards and tell us if you agree.

BEST: Lupita Nyong'o

The "12 Years A Slave" star took our breath away with her blown-out fade haircut, cat-eye makeup and brick red lipstick. We still want to know the secret to her flawless complexion.

BEST: Olivia Wilde

The mommy-to-be looked radiant with her side-swept, ombre waves. But what really captivated us was her smoldering purple eyeshadow that made her green eyes pop.

BEST: Jennifer Lawrence

Before taking home the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actress, Lawrence was already a winner thanks to this beauty look. Her shimmering gray eyeshadow complement her wine-colored lips perfectly.

BEST: Reese Witherspoon

Jennifer Aniston isn't the only blonde babe in Hollywood. Witherspoon gives her a run for that title with her angled bob haircut, metallic gold lids and nude lips.

BEST: Sandra Bullock

Who knew a low ponytail could look this hot on the red carpet? When worn with a smokey eye and pop of color on the cheeks and lips like Bullock does here.

WORST: Zooey Deschanel

zooey deschanel

Deschanel lives for a retro look, but this blunt bangs and chignon hairstyle that she accentuated with a white rose just seems dated. We'd love to see her in a much more modern look.

WORST: Sarah Hyland

When we saw Hyland's thick crown braid and bold eyebrows, we immediately thought of Frida Kahlo... just not in a good way. It's all a bit heavy on the pint-sized star.

WORST: Amber Heard

We're still unsure as to what Heard was going for with this puffed-up pompadour. The dramatic updo and bronze eye makeup would work better for a fashion editorial.

WORST: Lena Dunham

lena dunham

Oh, Lena Dunham. We've got nothing but love for this "Girl," but the childish hair, badly drawn-on eyeliner and smeared lipstick are a bit played out.

WORST: Jessica Chastain

Chastain gets an A for effort, but she fails sadly at making this wind-swept hairstyle and dusty rose lip color work on the red carpet.
