Fourth of July Weekend at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in Secaucus, NJ I debuted my comic series Tree of Keys. In the middle of a huge empty convention center imagination and fun reigned. We had 6 Astro Heroes, lots of kids, our Villain, Nefos, Zalinda, the heroine, and everyone joined in Fighting Evil with their Own Talents.
First each kid had a magic astrology sign painted on their face or arm. The actors playing the Astro kids also had their astrology sign prominently painted. Then the guest kids searched for the Astro kids while villain Nefos was hunting and menacing everyone. The Astro Heroes and the kids hid behind water coolers, booths or convenient columns. They outsmarted Nefos and So So Chang remained "uncaught" the entire time. Zalinda, in a fabulous costume and make-up, protected all the kids and cheered them on.
The fan fest came at a time when difficult astrology patterns have encouraged human evil and led to events that have rocked the world. In addition to Uranus/Pluto and Saturn/Neptune cross currents, Mars, the planet which symbolizes war and aggression, had been retrograding (going backwards) since April 17. He straightened out shortly before the Fan Fest. Retrograde Mars is infamous for bringing forth an edgy, angry, violent time. We can all supply the horrors that occurred during this retrograde. The difficult astrological patterns have not completely disappeared but in coming together against the dark forces we can now more easily martial our power towards peaceful solutions.
For me, the kids coming up to the Tree of Keys booth were adorable and a tonic. They wanted to know about their Astro Hero's Super Powers. Two Virgo twins looked delighted when I told them their hero was PERFECTA and secret weapon was The Evil Clean Sweep Broom. They "flew" around the room sweeping away any villains that crossed their path. Other kids played a huge game of catch and release as they rounded up their Astro Kid and brought him or her to the central depot.

The kids and Astro Heroes saved the day because they played fair and square and used their own talents to Fight Evil. Surely we can all follow their example? I wish you all could have been there.
