What came after the slap?

On Wednesday, CBS announced a spinoff to "The Good Wife" less than two weeks after the series aired its controversial final episode. The currently untitled project will be helmed by co-creators Robert and Michelle King and will pick up with fan-favorite Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) one year after the events of the mothership's series finale. Former "Good Wife" regular Cush Jumbo, who plays attorney Lucca Quinn, will also star.

“The quality of ‘The Good Wife’ has always rivaled anything on television and we’re excited to tell more stories with some of the brilliant characters Robert and Michelle King created,” David Stapf, president of CBS Television Studios, said in an official statement.

The series will air exclusively on the network's digital subscription service, CBS All Access, and is expected to premiere sometime in 2017.
