Google Bans Microsoft Windows Company-Wide

According to the Financial Times, Google is beginning to phase out the use of Microsoft Windows within the company due to security concerns.

"We're not doing any more Windows. It is a security effort," the FT quoted one employee as explaining.

The breach by Chinese hackers earlier this year has reportedly catalyzed the move away from Microsoft. "Particularly since the China scare, a lot of people here are using Macs for security," one Googler told the FT.

Employees will be offered a choice of using PCs running Linux or Apple's Mac computers. Google also plans to encourage its employees to switch to Google's own products, such as Chrome OS.

"Microsoft we don't feel so good about," said a Google insider.

"It would have made more people upset if they banned Macs rather than Windows," another explained to the FT.
