Google's Android Market Offering Movie Rentals Starting At $1.99

Android Market Now Offering Movie Rentals

Google kicked off its 2011 I/O conference with a flurry of announcements, and it looks like the Big G is getting into the streaming movies game.

The Android Market just pushed live thousands of movies, starting at $1.99 for rentals.

All movies on the Market have a 30-day rental period, but as soon as you start playback, you only have 24 hours to watch the film.

While you will be able to stream videos instantly much like Netflix, a new "pinning" feature is also available to let you download movies in the background for offline playback.

The Honeycomb tablet app will roll out with Android (Honeycomb) 3.1 this summer, while Android 2.2 devices will get an updated movies app "in a few weeks."
