So, let’s take stock of what’s been going on with GOP nominee and apocalyptic circus peanut Donald Trump since he delivered his “voice of fear” oration in Cleveland.
According to Gallup, the Republican National Convention was the “first in at least 30 years to leave the public less likely to support a presidential nominee.” Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton, has opened up wide leads in both national polls and in surveys of critical swing states.
Trump has responded by doing all the things he does best ― alienating GOP legislators, making people wonder if he’s a Russian double agent, raising concerns about his access to nuclear weapons ― with some new tricks, like angering Gold Star families.

Key Republicans close to Donald Trump’s orbit are plotting an intervention with the candidate after a disastrous 48 hours led some influential voices in the party to question whether Trump can stay at the top of the Republican ticket without catastrophic consequences for his campaign and the GOP at large.
That’s right. No one is talking about Trump making a “pivot” anymore, like the Republican nominee is just one or two step-ball-changes away from fully connecting with the center of the country. It’s time for a full on “intervention.” A reset. A reboot. Or else ... someone else gets to be the presidential nominee?
We’re not even sure how that works, because we’ve never been asked to contemplate the possibility. But since we’re now being forced to, here’s our best advice for Trump in a special “First To Last” Republican intervention.
