"Gossip Girl" Ratings: 3.4 Million Season Premiere Lifts CW To Best Monday Ever

The second season debut of "Gossip Girl" gave the CW a major ratings boost, helping the network earn its best Monday numbers in its two-year history in its target demographic of adults 18 to 34. In total viewers, "Gossip Girl" drew 3.4 million at 8 p.m., nearly matching the series' record of 3.5 million viewers set last year with the show's very first episode. At 9 p.m., the CW garnered 3.1 million viewers for "One Tree Hill."

The fourth season of "Prison Break" got off to a slow start for Fox on Labor Day, falling 20 percent among adults 18 to 49 from its third-season debut a little less than a year ago. According to Nielsen's estimates, the serial drama attracted just 6.5 million total viewers from 8 to 10 p.m. but still high enough ratings in the 18-to-49 set to lead the night in that important demographic.
