Remember when you were a teenager and couldn't wait to "grow up" and become an adult? Well, where is the "I take it back button" when you need it? What was all the hype about anyway? Unlike being a child, when it seemed like there was all the time in the world, once you become an adult it feels like there is always a shot clock ticking away, with not enough time in a day. So what do you do when work is piling up and demands are pulling you from every angle? You may have grown up, but you can't escape the fact that you need a time out!

A day with a good old fashioned time out is like getting a new day in the middle of the day. When demands are at its highest, that is the perfect time to take a 20-minute vacation. No technology, no words. Just you, at peace, connecting with your thoughts and feelings. When you return, you may not have a tan, but you will have the same refreshing feeling of a one-week mini vacation, all because you allowed your mind and body to detach from your demanding day. With GPS for the Soul as your accountability partner, you can't go wrong, as you use your guide to connect with your happy place so that happy is what you will take home to your loved ones.

I can only speak from what I know. My first 20-minute vacation changed my life. I had so many things going on in my head. Should I do laundry, start dinner, write a chapter, read a chapter, respond to emails, take my son outside, go to the grocery store... I mean, my thoughts were everywhere. That's when I remembered the GPS for the Soul app that I downloaded. I put my finger on the camera lens and closed my eyes. That's when something happened. I became aware of my breathing, which was a little fast. I began to control my breathing, and a sense of peace came over me. I didn't have a picture of anything in my mind, but I arrived at a place where the welcome was comforting and the silence soothing. I felt completely safe. When I opened my eyes from what seemed like forever, I looked down at my phone and it said I was in sync. How fitting, I thought to myself. I believe from that moment on I became obsessed with being in sync. I set my alarm and 20 minutes later, I was a new me. I didn't even have to think about what I was going to do, I just did the first thing that came naturally. Now, GPS for the Soul has become my daily opportunity for me to check in with me.

The bottom line is: Whether you are a successful businessman/woman, a stay-at-home, work-from-home parent or a point guard on an NBA team, the fact still remains. In this game called life, you will always need a time out.
